WavEC-Offshore Renewables is a research center in the area of Offshore Energy, Maritime and Ocean Engineering world and Sustainable usage of the Sea.
It was started in 2003 as a spin off of Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal. WavEC has a very long track record in EU projects and in cooperative work with other EU institutions and research entities.
It is a non-profit organization belonging to the Portuguese Scientific Research Network of FCT (National Science Foundation).

Foi fundada em 2003 sendo um spin-off do Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisboa, Portugal. WavEC tem um longo track record em projetos Europeus e trabalho cooperativo com outras Instituições de Investigação Europeias.
O WavEC é uma associação sem fins lucrativos pertecente à rede de investigação nacional da FCT.
